BYF Arizona launched on October 16, 2019, and is a three-year campaign, which has the potential to be continued beyond the initial three years with additional investments.

The campaign showcases the stories of dedicated, hard-working individuals building a life for themselves while also contributing to their local economy, provides information on specific skilled-trade careers, and highlights entry points to training, education, and job opportunities.

The Foundation is an independent third party with a strong ability to convene leaders across the industry, as well as education partners. The Foundation has brought together industry leaders to drive conversations surrounding workforce solutions and is able to implement these solutions as a neutral nonprofit organization.

The effort is led by an industry steering committee that consists of leaders from residential and commercial construction, contractors and subcontractors, wholesalers and manufacturers, home builders and heavy civil. BYF Arizona has also partnered with industry associations like the American Subcontractors Association of Arizona, Arizona Builders Alliance, Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Arizona Masonry Council, Arizona Roofing Council, Arizona Roofing Contractors Association, Arizona Utility Contractors Association, Associated Minority Contractors of Arizona, Gilbert Chamber Foundation, and the Valley of the Sun Chapter of Construction Financial Management Association (CFMA).

No! We envision BYF Arizona as a three-year campaign. Additional resources will increase our marketing exposure. With further investments, we can create additional videos, grow our digital and outdoor marketing presence, develop partnerships with strategic events, and create new strategies to build awareness about rewarding careers in construction.

Yes. The Greater Phoenix Chamber Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, so all contributions are fully tax deductible.

Investors also receive direct access to talent via online job listings. Those who invest at the Project Manager level or above get featured placements for their job posts and an opportunity to list qualified company training programs on the BYF Arizona website. Build Your Future Arizona launched in October of 2019. While currently operating on a three-year schedule, additional investments could lead to a more sustained career awareness effort.

In the short-term, the goal is to fill open positions with individuals who are looking to transition to meaningful, high-potential careers. Longer term, the campaign will target students, parents, and counselors to change the perception of construction careers.

The campaign is driven by the BYF Arizona steering committee of key investors, who provide direction for the overarching strategy. Paul Sanders is the BYF Arizona Workforce Development Manager and serves as the primary point of contact. The initiative is built upon the existing national Build Your Future platform with localized messaging and content being provided by local marketing firm: Ideas Collide.

This is a collaborative effort among employers with a neutral intermediary to provide the execution of the campaign. It is open to any interested parties to participate and provide input, so no one sector or company is solely driving its direction. The campaign is already exceeding metrics for impressions and has led individuals to pursuing careers in construction.

Yes! Local control of the campaign is of the utmost importance to the Foundation. All assets will focus on the unique needs of our state. We’ve partnered with Ideas Collide to conduct focus groups, determine appropriate messages and feature local craft professionals in order to attract the best talent.

Our message is that a career as a craft professional isn’t a second choice or lesser alternative. Is it something to aspire to in itself! Opportunities in the construction industry are high-demand, high-potential, high-pride chances to earn while you learn and avoid the debt that is now crippling so many of our young people. That’s why our campaign will be aggressive in asking those we target to take action and “construct their career.” We will also link up with NCCER’s national BYF campaign, and the other state partnerships they have recently launched in Indiana, Virginia, Florida, and Missouri.

Build Your Future Indiana had tremendous success building awareness and driving talent to employers through their initiative. We are using the lessons they learned to produce a campaign that’s just as impactful for Arizona’s job seekers, employers, and the state’s economy. Any additional funding will further enhance the impact.
